UPDATE

We have been trying to gain our federal charitable status for over a decade. Because of the complexity of foreign charity rules we have been unable to secure our status. Thus, the extremely difficult decision has been made to step back from our work in Roatan and localize the charity to Alberta, Canada, in an effort to earn Canadian Charitable Status and also focus on succession planning. Our goal is, and always has been, to keep the important work of helping children and Morgan’s legacy alive. We thank you for your patience as we reimagine the intent of this very important project. Who We Are

Morgan Jayne Makowecki’s spirit is living on in Honduras, by helping children and their families whose lives have been impacted by HIV and/or extreme poverty. We support wellness and education programs by feeding the mind, body and souls of kids for a better tomorrow.

We are group of passionate volunteers hoping to make a positive change in the lives of children and families living on Roatan whose lives have been impacted by HIV and/or poverty.

Through our fundraising efforts, we support Families Saludables, a grass roots charity on Roatan devoted to fighting the AIDS epidemic, and The Charmont Bilingual Academy in Coxen Hole, Roatan, a school that educates and feeds children in an effort to give them a brighter future.

A Father's Love

It began with an amazing young lady named Morgan Jayne who passed away suddenly at the young age of 18. From great loss sometimes great gains are borne. With determination, Morgan’s father Fred decided to keep his daughter’s spirit and memory alive by starting THE MORGAN JAYNE CHILDREN’S PROJECT. The project’s initial focus was on stopping the mother-to-infant transmission of HIV by providing baby formula to nursing mothers. Due to these efforts, there is now a 0% transmission rate with women in the project.

There has been great growth and change since the project first started, and we have now evolved into The MORGAN JAYNE CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION. We have been able to expand our efforts and reach many more families and children – many of those whose lives were saved because of a can of formula provided by the project in Morgan’s name – a beautiful testament of a father’s love for his daughter, a father who took the heartbreak of death, and turned it into life.
